Thailand is one of Southeast Asia countries.  The word Thai (ไทย) means free or independence.  Thus, Thailand means land of free.  The country is composed of seventy seven provinces.  The capital and also the largest city is Bangkok. Thailand has a population of about sixty eight million people as of 2017.  Thailand has a tropical climate (about 24 – 34C) all year round, beautiful beaches, good accommodations and tasty food.  It attracts millions of visitors from around the world every year.

Thailand and Thai Workers

Thailand has a workforce of 38 million people who are aged between 18 -60 working for the government, big corporations, big and small companies.  However, for the majority of this workforce, the wages are low.  Due to rising living costs in Thailand, their income are often not sufficient to support the family needs.  Therefore, many Thai workers desire to go abroad for work, as they hope to earn better wages to help improve the quality of life for them and their families

The majority of Thai people practice Theravada Buddhism. The Buddhist teachings, culture and lifestyle forester an attitude of gentleness, hard work, flexibility, adaptability, honesty and respect for others.  As a result, Thai people are very suitable to work in other countries.

Many countries including Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea, Brunei, Kuwait, Israel and other countries have recruited thousands of Thai workers to work in construction, care services, manufacturing, agriculture, assembly-lines work industries, etc. Thai workers gain tremendous respect from  their employers and their fellow co-workers.  They are praised internationally for their patience, skills, dependability and work ethic.

Thai workers are very much motivated to work hard, because they have the desire to assist their families in Thailand.  They also realize that they only have a limited amount of time (two years according to the Temporary Foreign Worker's Program) in their host country.  Therefore, they want to work as much as they can during their contracts.  If overtime is offered, you can be sure that Thai workers will take the opportunity to work longer hours. They are also keen to be rehired for additional work with companies when their contracts are expired.  Thai workers strive for good work-ethic to ensure future recommendations and continued employment opportunities

Although Thai is the official language of Thailand, the Thai government has recognized the importance of the English language. Therefore, it has strongly promoted the use of the language in the country, and has made it mandatory for English to be taught in their primary, secondary and college education systems.  Today, more and more Thai people are able to read, write and speak English.  And iCan will recruit those workers to work in Canada who have English proficiency at the level required by the employers.
